The road to glory

glory debut

Over 5,000 people turned out to see the biggest and best fight card the UK has ever seen on Saturday 23 March 2013, among them over 100 local supporters ready to cheer Chad ‘2 Slick’ Sugden on to yet another victory.

Chad was fighting on the undercard of the Glory show which featured heavyweights Remy Bonjasky and Tyrone Spong as the main event, with 10 other super fights and fighters from the USA, Holland, France, Australia, Romania, Morocco, Germany, Italy, Brazil, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Unfazed by the big occasion and the huge venue, Chad started strong in his fight, landing punches from all angles. His opponent Sam Wilson, a very experienced fighter in his prime at 29, tried to take the fight to Chad but Chad stayed one step ahead all the way.

Stepping in a little closer in the second round, Chad landed a ferocious right hand which sent his opponent reeling although he came bouncing straight back. But it wasn’t long before the crowd was on its feet again as Chad sent Sam reeling to the floor with a push kick. It was a great second round for the Suggy’s Gym wonder kid who was up on the score cards.

The third round saw both fighters exchanging heavy artillery, much to the delight of the crowd, but Chad always finished each exchange on top.

At the end of the contest, there was only ever going to be one result – the decision was announced and Chad was declared the unanimous winner.
